Estimating your electricity consumption: the simple method (with numbers)

Orders of magnitude

A French household consumes on average 4,679 kWh a year, but the spread is huge depending on heating: an all-electric studio uses as much as a large gas-heated house. Benchmarks: 30 m² with electric heating ≈ 3,500 kWh; 70 m² ≈ 7,500 kWh; 120 m² ≈ 12,000 kWh. Without electric heating, count 1,100 kWh per occupant + 500 kWh baseline.

Why it matters so much

At low consumption, the standing charge dominates: an offer with a low standing charge wins. At high consumption, only the kWh price matters. That is why a comparison site that does not ask for your consumption cannot rank offers correctly for you.

The precise method

The most reliable source remains your actual history: it appears on every bill and in your Enedis account. Our simulator crosses size, occupants, heating type and hot water to approximate that figure to ±10%.
